Why do girls like pink?

Because it is feminine! A girl’s preference for pink is a result of biological and evolutionary programming.

One might think that it is solely because women are brought up to be soft and feminine, but then they should think again! Why is it that when shopping for baby gifts, people are likely to pick pink for girls and blue for boys? It is mostly because of marketing gimmicks and true gender stereotypes.

When a girl is born, she grows up wearing pink, watching cartoon shows with princess wearing pink, living in a pink room, eating in pink plates and her friends too, are wearing pink. No wonder, with such a large exposure to the color pink, girl end up loving Pink!

Society has always attached the color pink to girls, right from their births. According to a research, a simple explanation would be that in prehistoric times, the role of a woman was to gather food. Because of this, women developed a color vision and became hard-wired to pick the red and pink fruits and vegetables over the centuries.

Women are said to easily express emotions. When a woman blushes, her cheeks are flushed with blood and the color of the skin changes to shades of red. Pink is a shade of red too. When a child is sick, his or her skin has a reddish undertone. Women, as usual, pick up on such subtle and indirect clues fairly quicker than men. They are more in sync with their feelings. Since women have basically been nurturers, they are sensitive to all shades of pink and red. For long, the color pink has been associated with beauty and tenderness.
